We at ASCD believe strongly that professional development must be accessible. Amid busy schedules and meeting the needs of students and colleagues or the demands of lesson planning, educators still need to find the time to grow professionally. So what’s an accessible solution? ASCD’s free webinars.
Our webinars are led by education experts and span a variety of topics for educators of every level. In addition to our growing archive of webinars, here is a glimpse at some of this spring’s coming attractions:
Classroom Instruction That Works Series
Presented by the authors of Classroom Instruction That Works, 2nd Edition, this four-part series will cover topics such as intentional lesson planning, strategies that help students activate background knowledge, and aligning classroom activities with learning objectives. The first webinar in the series starts on April 8, 2013, at 3 p.m. eastern time. You can learn more about and register for the series here.
Common Core State Standards Series
Implementing the Common Core State Standards is a challenge that the majority of U.S. educators are facing. The Common Core webinar series has something for educators of every level—from the middle school teacher who’s concerned with integrating complex texts into his coursework, to the principal who is tasked with leading the way for her school’s adoption of the new standards. The next webinar in the series is on April 10, 2013, at 3 p.m. eastern time. You can browse the series archive and register here.
One at a Time Series
For complex education issues, sometimes it’s best to take things one step at a time. This is the approach ASCD author Jane E. Pollock takes with her One at a Time webinars, based on her book series. On April 9, 2013, at 3 p.m. eastern time, join Pollock for her webinar on “Minding the Achievement Gap One Classroom at a Time.” And on May 14, 2013, at 3 p.m. eastern time, Pollock will present “Improving Student Learning One Teacher at a Time.”
