Design Thinking: Solving the Most Wicked Problems in Education

Design thinking is about how you can take something that is unclear and figuring out how to navigate that space. Today’s school leaders are challenged with exceptionally difficult problems. On this episode of ASCD Learn Teach Lead Radio, Alyssa Gallagher and Kami Thordarson propose Design Thinking as an effective approach to finding solutions and offer tips for getting started.

Gallagher and Thordarson are co-authors of the newly released book, Design Thinking for School Leaders: Five Roles and Mindsets That Ignite Positive Change. Alyssa Gallagher is an experienced public school educator, school and district administrator, facilitator, and educational consultant. Kami Thordarson has worked as a classroom teacher, in professional development,  and as a curriculum designer. Host Mike Janatovich is the assistant principal of Harmon Middle School in Aurora, Ohio, and an ASCD Emerging Leader.
