How should we define teacher and principal effectiveness? And how can we measure educator effectiveness? To help answer these questions that educators grapple with year in and year out, we’re looking to you!
Your ideas and discussion will fuel the first ever ASCD Forum which we’re kicking off on Tuesday, January 22 on ASCD EDge®, our professional networking community for educators. In the ASCD Forum group, you’ll be able to contribute blog posts of your own, comment on posts from other educators, take a brief survey and more. Use the #ASCDforum hashtag to ask us any questions you have about the process and about how ASCD will use this information.
To help guide the forum, ASCD is dividing it into five two-week periods and each period will focus on a different aspect of teacher and principal effectiveness. For example, we’ll discuss the underlying research and validity of educator evaluation systems, the use of evaluations and their effects on recruitment, retention and advancement, as well as the role of ongoing professional development in supporting and sustaining educator effectiveness.
For those educators attending this year’s Annual Conference and Exhibit Show, we’ll be hosting a town hall-style session moderated by our ASCD President Debra Hill.
