Whether you are an educator preparing to make curricular changes to meet the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) or examining and adjusting your instruction, ASCD’s EduCore™ online tool can help smooth your transition into a new era of teaching and learning. A free resource, the EduCore website helps educators learn about the new standards and offers useful content that supports meaningful, purposeful changes to instruction.
Since its launch in August 2012, more than 100,000 educators have visited the EduCore website. Supported by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the digital tool was designed with extensive input from educators and experts in the field who are working every day to help make our nation’s students college- and career-ready. Created with a teacher’s busy schedule in mind, EduCore’s resources and tools can be easily integrated into classroom instruction. Even if you have just ten minutes to view one of the many instructional videos on EduCore, the website allows for teachers to build capacity at their own rate.
ASCD recently made a number of improvements to EduCore we think users will appreciate. Partnering with the Literacy Design Collaborative, we recently added more than 20 new example modules for teaching argumentation, informational, and narrative writing across subject areas for secondary students, with more modules on the way. In addition, users can now find up-to-date webinars by education experts on Common Core implementation and links to current articles from ASCD’s magazine Educational Leadership on the EduCore website. And coming soon we’ll be adding even more resources, such as video examples of formative assessment math lessons, presented in collaboration with the Silicon Valley Math Initiative and Mathematics Assessment Resource Service (MARS).
EduCore provides current, relevant, evidence-based instructional tools and professional development resources for educators, schools, and school districts implementing the CCSS in mathematics and literacy. Take a look at the recent updates and see how the EduCore tool is growing to meet your common core professional development goals and tell us what you think. We look forward to hearing from you!
