ASCD Fights for You

Earlier today ASCD Executive Director and CEO Deb Delisle sent the following email to all ASCD members.

If you’re like me, the last few months have been a rollercoaster. The uncertainty that is gripping the nation has spanned across political and geographical boundaries and is reaching every school and classroom.

As I attend various conferences and meetings, I am keenly aware of how much of the conversation is spent wondering how education may change and, most important, what effect adjusted policies or funding streams will have on each of our roles and our students’ lives.

In this time of turmoil, it is more crucial than ever that we, as educators, move beyond just conversations to stand up, engage, and make our voices heard for what is right—and what is best for students.

For nearly 75 years, ASCD has been committed to standing up for educators. We have condemned acts of censorship, defended human and civil rights, opposed racism and racial segregation, and advocated for the separation of church and state.

Through our programs and events, on the pages of Educational Leadership magazine, and in our advocacy work, ASCD has a long-standing commitment to an equitable education for all children.

We support equity and social justice and won’t stop advocating on your behalf for a well-rounded education that ensures every student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. At the core of our work is a deeply held belief that all children deserve high-quality teachers and leaders in their schools.

We advocate for every child in the U.S., and with 125,000 members, our collective voice has made a difference and will continue to do so.

We want you to join us. Advocacy should and must remain an essential part of who we are and what we do. Indeed, it is one of the best ways to achieve lasting improvements in our schools and communities.

Join ASCD’s Educator Advocates program to get informed, get involved, and make a difference.

Together, we’ll keep fighting for education and kids.
