Getting a Head Start on ASCD’s 2013 Annual Conference
We all know that satisfying feeling of getting a head start on something—laying out a lesson plan a month ahead or submitting progress reports a few days before the final deadline—anything that we can squeeze into a pocket of free time that lets us stay organized and on top of our game later on down the road. So even though our big Annual Conference in Chicago is months away, we’re encouraging you to get a head start on planning your conference experience by registering for our Pre-Conference Institutes today.
Broken down into three-, two- and one-day options, these institutes help you take a deeper dive on topics such as classroom instruction, Common Core State Standards implementation, English language learner instruction and more. Plus, you’ll get to connect with some of our leading education experts and authors such as Robyn Jackson, Robert Marzano, Jay McTighe, Harvey Silver, Carol Ann Tomlinson, Grant Wiggins and Allison Zmuda.
And while you’re getting a head start on your professional development at the Pre-Conference, you can also add some hands-on learning to the mix. This year we’re offering school site visits as part of the Pre-Conference Institutes, so educators can learn about what’s successful in other schools and take those findings back to their own districts. The school visits include building tours, classroom observations, as well as meetings with staff, administrators and some students, and one-hour debriefing sessions afterwards. For example, one of the school sites, the Niles North High School in Skokie, Ill. is home to a STEM program that has received multiple awards, and was also named by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the best in the nation for district arts programming.
ASCD’s Pre-conference Institutes run from March 13 to 15 and must be registered for separately from Annual Conference registration. You can learn more about registering for the conference and Pre-Conference Institutes here. To save $100 on your conference registration, sign up for the early bird rate by January 16.
